Women’s Service

We opened the doors to our Southwark centre in November 2017, and our Lewisham centre in October 2018.

The Southwark and Lewisham Women’s Hubs offer safe, welcoming, one-stop-shop support for those affected by the criminal justice system, and for women seeking support, information, and community.

Our aim is to provide gender-specific and personalised support, helping to equip women with the tools and resources to address their needs in a relaxed and welcoming space.

Guncha, Bereket Food

Migrateful

Bereket Food at the Hub Lunch
At our May Monthly Hub Lunch we welcomed Bereket Food, which specialises in Turkmen Cuisine, (www.instagram.com/bereketfood_uk) and they provided an amazing spread. We discovered Guncha and her company Bereket Food via Migrateful, which is an organisation that runs cookery classes led by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants struggling to integrate and access employment. Their mission
is to empower and celebrate refugees and vulnerable migrants on their journey to integration, by supporting them to run their own cookery classes.

Slipping through the cracks

This month our main feature is written by Cat Millar, Women’s Service Manager. Cat and her team wanted to raise awareness oborderline personality disorder (BPD), as The RCP* estimates that at least one person in 20 are currently living with a personality disorder, and 75% of those diagnosed with BPD are women.

International Women's Day 2023

To mark and celebrate International Women’s Day 2023, we asked staff at Pecan to name a woman they admired. Here are some of the women’s responses from each of our projects.
