Welcome to Pecan’s November Newsletter!

October has been a month full of preparation and anticipation of the coming busy Christmas season. The Pantry continues to see growth and on the 6th November, we hosted a visit from the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, London Assembly members Florence Eshalomi and Tom Copley, and Barry Hargrove, Deputy Mayor of Southwark. The Southwark Foodbank has had an incredibly successful Harvest season, with schools and churches from all over the borough donating food. The HOurbank Creative Writing Workshops have kicked off with a wonderful group of creatives. The Women’s Service is running a Shark Cage Course this month. We welcomed new members of staff into the Women’s Service, Employment and Central Teams, as well as saying goodbye to one of our employment staff.

Peckham Pantry

On Wednesday 6th November, we hosted a visit from the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, London Assembly members Florence Eshalomi and Tom Copley, and Barry Hargrove, Deputy Mayor of Southwark. During the visit, they saw the Pantry in action, had a chance to meet members and discuss how the pantry is positively impacting the community in the area by providing affordable food to those on low income and building a community in St Luke’s.

Southwark Foodbank

We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of local schools, churches and businesses in October, especially over the Harvest period and have seen many hundreds of kilograms of food coming in from many people. We want to say a huge thank you to all have supported us with food donations, money donations and volunteering over this period.
