Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day

Celebrating and supporting women in Southwark and Lewisham Fundraiser

This Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, we are asking for your support to help us keep helping vulnerable and marginalised women in Southwark and Lewisham.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a dramatic impact on the women we work with. At our women’s centres, we provide holistic support services for a large community of women experiencing complex needs or those affected by the criminal justice system. These women have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, suffering increased poverty, isolation, and difficulty accessing vital support for mental ill health and domestic abuse.

Since the start of the pandemic, we have ramped up the support for women in the community in response to their increased need. Alongside our 1:1 advocacy provision, we’ve been supporting 140 women with wellbeing packs every 2 weeks since March 2020. We have been running an online programme of groups, workshops and creative activities to increase emotional wellbeing, and continued providing vital support to women at the point of arrest through our Diversion scheme.

This Women’s History Month, we need your help more than ever to keep doing what we’re doing. Help us support women through crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic with a small donation today.

You can support us by engaging and sharing in International women’s Day this year, challenging injustice against women and supporting the positive and proactive work of our Women’s Service.
