Southwark Foodbank

A sad farewell
During March, we said a sad farewell to Simon Boxall, who managed Southwark Foodbank for over 5 years. We wish him well in pastures new!

New starts at the foodbank
We welcome Genevieve Ose-Kuffuor as the new Foodbank manager. We also welcome Flora Schweighofer to the Southwark Foodbank team who is our Community Engagement Officer (Food Security) and we will be leading us in our campaign work. Erhire Okopomo will be joining the foodbank as our Client Service Officer, working closely with our four foodbank services.
Volunteers brunch
We held a Volunteer brunch in early March to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. Volunteers across the foodbank welcome centres were able to come together, enjoy pastries and hear the latest updates from the foodbank. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the foodbank, and we simply could not operate without them!
We are welcoming donations of Easter Eggs (before April 8th) so we can give an extra treat to our clients this Easter!

Southwark and Lewisham Women’s Service

International Women’s Day

On the 8th of March, we celebrated International Women’s Day! It was a great day celebrated with our team, clients and any other wonderful woman who wanted to attend, all women were welcome. We had great food provided by Southwark Soul Sisters, people shared their poetry, we had a Pilates workshop, there was nail painting and lots of other things. All in all it was a great time and we all had a lot of fun.

We hope to see you at our next celebration!

We also want to say a massive thank you to everyone who shared on our social media and donated. We managed to raise an amazing £9,835.77!

Peckham Pantry

Core values
We’re making a few changes here at the Peckham Pantry. Here are a couple we have made this mouth

that we want you to know about!

We’d love for you to get to know us more and what we’re all about, starting with our core values:

  1. Value – You will always be able to choose a basket that is good value for money.
  2. Health – To offer a selection of fresh, healthy produce that can supplement their weekly groceries.
  3. Community – To grow a community around the pantry and build member engagement

We’ve also updated our loyalty scheme!
If you bring a friend along to the pantry and they sign up, you and your friend both get 50% off! This is on top of you 9th shop being free.

Employment Support

We always give our clients incentives after we have helped them gain employment. We also provide our clients with clothes for interviews if they do not have suitable attire.

If you, or anyone you know, would like a helping hand finding employment or would like the opportunity to attend training and workshops to increase your chances of employment, do not hesitate to get in touch at Employment.support@pecan.org.uk

On Tuesday the 8th of March we had a talent show at the All Saints cafe. It was a great time with talented people, we had sing-alongs, some comedy and even an original song. The picture on the right shows Abby and her husband performing a song they wrote about love!
