Peckham Pantry will be expanding from April 2025.
We will be launching three pop-ups in community spaces between Spring and Summer 2025 in Southwark, to address the need for affordable healthy food. We want the value and benefits of the pantry to reach more people in Southwark. Up to 2K households came through the Pantry in 2023-2024, and up to 15K shops took place in 2024, so we know there is a need for affordable healthy food.
From Tuesday 1 April 2025 the cost for a shop will rise from £4.50 to £5 per shop. This will be our first rise in price since the beginning in 2020.
Shahid Mughal, Head of Food Services & Finance said: ‘Given our operational experience of running both the Southwark Foodbank and Peckham Pantry, we are proposing a pathway to transition from the reliance in foodbanks to a more sustainable pantry model that offers a more dignified and financially viable alternative for communities. Our flagship store on Peckham Park Road is now offering support from Thames Reach for members on a Thursday from 10am-4pm. Plus, we have a steering group that organises events, meetings and recently produced a cookbook. We are looking forward to being part of the change in Southwark on how we deliver food to those affected by the cost of living.’
Launch Event – Rachel Leigh Community Hall
We will be launching our first pop-up on Tuesday 15 April 2025 at the Rachel Leigh Community Hall, 32 Andrews Walk London SE17 3JQ.
So, join us on Tuesday 15 April from 11am-3pm for the launch of this new social supermarket in Walworth, that will offer affordable food, fruit and vegetables and store cupboard favourites at the cost of £5, but up to the value of £15 or more.
