Peckham Pantry – Volunteers

School Holiday Ambassadors Needed!

At the Peckham Pantry we rely on our ambassadors to deliver our services in promoting choice and dignity. We are constantly in need of volunteers to enable us to provide focused customer support to our community.

We are particularly in need of ambassadors during the school holidays, so our continuous service is not interrupted to enable the pantry to remain open.

We want to hear from you if you:

  • Understand the importance of having a friendly and welcoming approach
  • Are calm, kind and have a flexible attitude
  • Are a people person
  • Have excellent communication, people skills
  • IT skills (Not compulsory)

More about Your Local Pantry

by James Henderson, Church Action on Poverty

“We have been delighted to see the number of Pantries steadily increasing in and around London, and hope to see more open soon” says James Henderson, Network Development Coordinator for the Your Local Pantry national team.

“Since the first London Pantry started in Peckham, over the years we have seen a steady increase, so that we now have 9 Pantry sites across Greater London. With an estimated population of 8.8 million people, we know that we need more Pantries in and around London but getting good and sustainable food supplies is really difficult at the moment.”

James explains that the next Pantry in development is in partnership with a church in Croydon and should be opening in the early autumn.
