We are proud to announce that our very own Women’s Service is taking part in the Big Give match fund!
From the 8th till the 22nd of March, the Southwark and Lewisham Women’s Service is going to be part of Big Give’s Women’s and Girls match fund campaign for International Women’s Day. Every donation is DOUBLED which means your donation will have double the impact! For every £1 raised up to the total of £10,000 the National Lottery will double it.
The Women’s Service relies on donations for them to be able to support the women of our community who have been in contact with the criminal justice system. Many women do not receive support or even advice once they leave prison, are on probation or have any sort of run-in with the law. That is where the Women’s Services step in. They support women in getting finances, accommodation, education and so much more. They also run workshops such as wellbeing and self-care to help women become more confident and independent.
Here are a few examples of how your donations can help:
- £3 gets a low-income woman to and from her advocacy appointment.
- £7.50 pays for a woman to attend one of our workshops.
- £25 pays for an hour-long advocacy session with one of our specially trained caseworkers.
- £50 pays for a phone for a woman leaving prison who otherwise would struggle.
- £150 a ‘Through the Gate’ Service where an advocate meets with a woman who has no other social connections on her day of release to ease her back into life in the community.
