Southwark Foodbank 2020/2021 End of Year Figures

The Southwark Foodbank supported 18,978 people (7,089 children and 11,889 adults) from April 2020 to March 2021, a total increase of 289% from 2019/2020.

To put it in perspective, we supported more children in 2020/2021 than the combined number of children and adults in 2019/2020. This isn’t right.

The Southwark Foodbank gave out 8,043 parcels in 2020/2021 compared to 3,344 parcels in 2019/2020. This is a 240% increase from the previous year.

The Trussell Trust today reported that the whole foodbank network across the UK gave out 2.5 million food parcels over the past year.

We know the pandemic has thrown so many people into crisis and that foodbanks have been supporting more people over the past year but people need better support than this. No one should need a foodbank. You can help us and join the Trussell Trust in working towards a #HungerFreeFuture.

While the figures are staggering, we want to acknowledge that we could not have met this need without the support of our incredible supporters, donors, and volunteers. Our community has really pulled together over the past year and even through this incredible crisis, we are so encouraged by the human spirit and generosity our supporters have shown.

Thank you!
