Ride London – Rachael’s Story

‘I participated in the Ride London for Pecan and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life.’

Last month we were extremely lucky to have a team at Ride London to fundraise for Pecan. We really appreciate the kindness and dedication from Rachael Bourke, Frank Cameroon, Richard Rayner and Sally Kidson. It takes a lot of time and energy to follow a training programme, as well as trying to generate content on your fundraising page and social media to encourage donations. Our Team Pecan managed it and we raised £1,600.

So, here is some feedback from Rachael about her experience:

‘I participated in the RideLondon for Pecan and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. Nearly 25,000 keen cyclists of all levels came together to ride through the carless streets of London, past monumental landmarks and through to the beautiful countryside of Essex. Spectators came out onto the streets to cheer everybody on which was really motivating especially when your legs felt so tired!

The biggest motivation though was doing this for Pecan and raising money for their incredibly important services. I signed up to this challenge quite late in the day, and I was surprised and moved by the amount raised in such a short space of time. I reached out to pretty much everyone I knew and pretty much everyone agreed that it was an important cause and so were more than happy to help support it through my fundraising.

I highly recommend for anyone to participate in this next year and continue to keep supporting the amazing work of Pecan!’
