Southwark Foodbank and Pecan Christmas Campaign: Southwark Foodbank and Pecan are launching their 2023 Christmas Campaign Give a Gift of Hope

Last year, our Christmas campaign saw more than 100 families in Southwark supported over the Christmas period and we will continue in 2023 to offer festive gifts and treats, as well as vouchers to buy food over the Christmas period. It was a tremendous success, with a very positive response. One mother told us:

“I would not have eaten very much that Christmas, it makes a difference knowing people care about your wellbeing. Thank you that no questions were asked, you were all very kind”. Another mother said, “It feels like someone really cares for me and my family, especially at this time of year. Thank you!”.

Stories like this reaffirm our commitment to helping those in need and remind us of the difference the public’s support makes. This year, Southwark Foodbank and Pecan are running our Christmas campaign ‘Give a Gift of Hope’ with the aim of raising £45,000. Your donation can support Southwark Foodbank and Pecan to transform lives during Christmas when the most vulnerable are faced with hard choices such eating or heating their homes. We are appealing for your support so we can provide fifty £25 vouchers for single person households and one hundred £50 vouchers for families. Plus, we are adding special tote bags alongside the food parcels this Christmas that will contain: children’s books, treats and extra festive food supplies.

We are appealing for your support so we can provide fifty £25 vouchers for single person households and one hundred £50 vouchers for families.

Take Part in Pecan Day to help us raise funds!

On Tuesday 5 December we have Pecan Day! This is a fundraising day to support the people who access our services, many of whom are in a crisis situation. Individuals, communities, or organisations can host a fundraising event – from a coffee morning or a raffle, to gathering urgently required food for Southwark Foodbank while having a bit of fun and getting together with friends and colleagues.

Your donations will go a long way to helping make Christmas that much more hopeful for people facing crisis and ongoing hardship. Your kind donations and belief in people will also support families and individuals that access our other services. Each of our projects – Southwark Foodbank to Women’s Services, Together, Peckham Pantry and Employment Support – rely on our community to support them, and by donating to Southwark Foodbank and Pecan, you support each one of these projects to continue addressing the needs in our community throughout the year.
