Pecan at Easter, a new financial year and an exciting new accreditation!
Sat here at my new desk, with the sun beating down on Peckham (sort of), I can see the street name sign for ‘Mission Place’ through the window. The entrance to the Pecan office is located on Peckham High Street, but I couldn’t think of a more appropriate road than Mission Place to share a corner with. Pecan is on a mission. A mission to transform lives through kindness, belief and hope and to enable individuals to believe in their potential!
April has been a busy time for us here at Pecan. In our faith lives we are focussing on Easter and that is currently reflected in our work. The timing of Easter is particularly appropriate this year; in this season we are meditating on Jesus’ death and resurrection and at work we have just entered a new financial year. In both areas, we are thinking about renewal, being refreshed, how to bring light into difficult situations and the hope of what’s to come.
All six projects and the central team are looking to the year ahead and planning how to best help our clients and community – the fundraising and finance staff are busy (as always) setting targets and working out how to meet them; Empower is welcoming a flood of new clients; Family Works is preparing to welcome new team members; HOur Bank is planning their trip to the Tate Modern; Moving On is settling in their new member of staff; NCS is celebrating their Good Ofsted report and Foodbank is giving out Easter Eggs!
As a team, we’re entering Easter and the new financial year with smiles on our faces. There is a lot to be thankful for, particularly our new Investors in People Silver Accreditation! The report stated: “100% of people feel appreciated for the work that they do at Pecan. It is a very positive environment in which to work and there is much praise from leaders, managers and colleagues.” We’re chuffed to have received this accreditation, it’s a huge achievement for an organisation of our size!
So going forward, sitting on the corner of Peckham High Street and Mission Place, we promise that we will remain dedicated to our mission and values and continue to transform lives through kindness, belief and hope.
We are all very much in need of, and looking forward to, the long bank holiday weekend! We pray that your Easter weekend is a time of happiness, hope, renewal and refreshment. Happy Easter from all of us at Pecan!
