2nd Lockdown, Thursday 5th November 2020

Following the UK government’s announcement of a second national lockdown starting Thursday 5th November 2020, Pecan has taken steps to ensure that we change our operations to follow the guidelines. As of Tuesday 3rd November, we moved most staff to work from home again and our essential services will remain open. Please see a list below of what our projects will be doing over the next month of lockdown.

You can help support all the projects below by donation to our COVID-19 Appeal or volunteering to help us answer enquiries on the phone from our offices by emailing shancy.collett-nanton@pecan.org.uk.

Southwark Foodbank

The Southwark Foodbank will continue to support people with emergency food parcels throughout the lockdown. Our 5 centres are open for appointment only collections.

People in need of foodbank support will still need to be referred with a voucher from a referral agency and will be contacted with an appointment time.

Anybody wanting to support the foodbank may do so in the following ways:

1. Donate funds through our COVID-19 Appeal

2. Donate food online via Bankuet

3. Donate food in person straight to our warehouse at the end of Mission Place, next to our office at 121A Peckham High Street, SE15 5SE. Opening hours 9am – 1pm, Monday – Friday.

If possible, please contact us on warehouse@pecan.org.uk to arrange a drop off.

You can find out more by visiting https://southwark.foodbank.org.uk/ or following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for regular updates.

Peckham Pantry

The Peckham Pantry will remain open at both sites, St Luke’s Church Chandler Way on Wednesdays and Peckham Park Road, Monday – Saturday.

All shoppers will be asked to wear face coverings when entering the shop and we will restrict the number of shoppers to two people at a time with social distancing measures in place.

If you would like to support the Peckham Pantry, you can do so by:

1. Volunteering at the pantry. Email jeanmarie.tucker@pecan.org.uk for more information.

2. Donate funds to help keep the pantry open and supporting people in Southwark

You can become a member by visiting and registering with us or downloading and completing a membership form and emailing it to pantry@pecan.org.uk

Women’s Services

The Women’s Services will continue supporting clients over the phone as the team moves to work from home. We will still be available for referrals and will continue working with all of our clients, meeting their needs and supporting their wellbeing with online wellbeing sessions, wellbeing packs, and support over the phone.

Employment Support

As in the first lockdown, our Employment Support Services (Family Works, Journey2Work, and National Careers Service) will move to remote working and will continue to support clients into work remotely over the phone.

All face-to-face appointments have been moved to telephone appointments and from Tuesday 3rd November, we stopped all face-to-face appointments until after the lockdown is lifted.

For all employment support enquiries, please email employment.support@pecan.org.uk

HOurBank

The HOurBank team will work remotely, supporting members through wellbeing packs, and phone calls to help support wellbeing and mental health through the second lockdown.
