Pecan's response to the COVID-19 pandemic
UPDATES AS OF 23 MARCH 2020
Following the government's announcement on the 23 March 2020, we urge everyone to follow the updated guidelines and to stay at home.
Pecan is taking every precaution with regard to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) to safeguard the health of our staff, volunteers, and clients.
Our offices will not be open for our usual services, with the exception of the Southwark Foodbank, which is providing essential support for many people facing food insecurity. Please do not visit our office unless you are visiting the foodbank.
We are continuing our foodbank sessions and are adapting our services accordingly to meet the challenges posed by the COVID-19 outbreak. We aim to provide our service while minimizing contact and keeping our community safe. All foodbank inquiries must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Peckham Pantry continues to open on Wednesdays between 11am-2pm. We hope to continue this service as far as we can and will update regularly as changes may occur with short notice. Pleas email email@example.com for all inquiries.
All our employment services have moved to online and telephone communication. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you need any assistance.
Hourbank has suspended all group meetings but the team is still working on keep everyone connected. Please email email@example.com for all inquiries.
The Women's hubs closed last week and our women's advocates are working remotely, keeping one-to-one sessions with clients by phone. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for all inquiries.
We ask that everyone consider the health of those around them as well as themselves and to follow the guidance of self-isolation and to practice social distancing to help prevent the spread of the virus.
We want to acknowledge that the people who will suffer the most from the disruption from COVID-19 are the most vulnerable in our community. Those with underlying health conditions, mental health issues, those in insecure employment affected by the economic downturn and everyone who relies on services like ours to survive. We ask that people continue to support those providing essential services to the vulnerable in our community.
We will continue to post updates on how Pecan is dealing with COVID-19 with regard to our services. We want to continue supporting the most vulnerable in society through this uncertain time.
