Volunteer
If you share Pecan’s Christian vision, are interested in playing a part in the ongoing transformation of people’s lives and have some time to invest into Pecan’s work then please read on.
We have a strong belief in the benefits of volunteering for both the volunteer and for Pecan. It’s a rewarding experience to be able to invest time into people. Pecan works with hundreds of unemployed people every year and has been able to provide a better service to them because of the support and help of a large number of people, many of whom have given their time freely as volunteers.
Current opportunities:
Could yours be the welcoming face of Pecan? We are looking for one or more people to help on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons (2-5pm), Thursday mornings (9am-1pm) and all day on Fridays.
Our Foodbank is looking for extra regular help on Tuesdays or Thursdays (especially Thursdays). There are a range of tasks available e.g. providing admin support, working in the storeroom, meeting with clients.
Are you a good organiser and could you help us in the upkeep of our building? Click the role description for more details.
Could you support clients on our Aspirations project in their progression into work or further learning? Click the role description for more details.
IAG Support Worker (Next Steps)
Could you help people seeking advice about training or employment by offering support on our Next Steps IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance) programme? Click the role description for more details.
We’re looking for someone who can help with odd jobs in our buildings.
Bite Size Opportunities
Do you have an eye for design and aesthetics? Could you offer a few hours each month to attend to our wall displays and keep us looking good?
Or would you like to be a link between the local church and Pecan, helping to arrange prayer events and improving our external communications?
Or do you have a particular skill that you think might benefit the work at Pecan? Please feel free to phone and have a chat about it with Val, or submit a volunteering interest form with your ideas.
So what do you do next?
If you are interested in any of these areas and you are in agreement with our basis of faith then you can print and complete the volunteering interest form and send it to:
