Pray

As a Christian organisation we believe that prayer is vitally important and we are committed to seeking God’s will and wisdom in each aspect of our work.  We recognise the power and support of other people’s prayers too and so we would love it if you would be willing to join us in praying for everything that we do.

Prayer Meetings

We are planning to hold regular prayer meetings in 2011.  We want them to not only be a place where we call out to God for a particular issue but also to use the evening to run a seminar on that topic.

These seminars will either be run by staff or people outside of Pecan.  They will provide information about a particular area, such as unemployment, as well as communicating what can be/is being done to help those in need.

The next prayer meeting is still to be arranged.  Please watch this space.

Prayer Points

Of course prayer doesn’t just happen in meetings.  If you would like to pray for Pecan where you are we would really appreciate it if you could pray for all, some or one of the following:

  • For those that live in poverty and amidst hardship in Peckham and those that Pecan works with.
  • For our staff and volunteers as they work with those facing insurmountable barriers.  That they would be able to give hope to those that have none and help all those who come through our doors.
  • For financial provision for Pecan so that we would be able to continue to do the vital work that we do.

Staff member Val Freeman explains the importance:

Jesus taught us that remaining in him is the one and only way we can bear fruit (John 15:5).  He proved the principle when he prayed a blessing over a few buns and kippers… and then there were plenty!

We see prayer as the lifeblood of Pecan.  We bring our offering of cheerful work – our bread and fish – and lift it to the Father for him to bless and multiply.  It’s through this approach that we have been able to bring God’s transformation to so many people over 21 years.  Please join with us in continually requesting God’s blessing, guidance and increase of his fruit, bread and fish in our community!
