Mental health

Only 24% of people with mental health needs are in employment. We provide personal development and 1-2-1 support for unemployed people with mental health issues as 1 in 6 of the population suffer depression and anxiety with the highest rates found among socially disadvantaged groups.

Our approach is client centred and focused, committed to open employment on equal terms with others, collaboratively developed with mental health teams and the client. As clients join the programme they are individually assessed to identify their past history, medical history, current condition, previous work experience and qualifications, current aspirations and motivation needs. This results in a Individual Development Plan that will identify their unique needs and an action plan to address those needs including integrated IAG, personal and social development, Skills for Life tailored to the individual’s employment objectives embedded within an employment support programme, job search and CV writing with interview preparation, training needs development and integrated personal support.

We structure in regular case meetings with mental health professionals supporting the client. We have also established a peer group support network for our clients.  Beneficiaries choose from a range of modules to suit their specific needs; the modules include job search skills development, letters of application and CV preparation, interview practice, work-related spoken and written English skills and awareness of handling stigmatization in the workplace.
