Volunteering at Pecan

We have a strong belief in the benefits of volunteering for both the volunteer and for Pecan. It's a rewarding experience to be able to invest time into people. Pecan works with over hundreds of unemployed people every year and has been able to provide a better service to them because of the support and help of a large number of people, many of whom who have given their time freely as volunteers.

If you are interested in playing a part in the ongoing transformation of people's lives and you are keen to gain valuable experience in a stimulating and rewarding work environment, then please read on.

There are many areas of Pecan’s work that you could get involved in but here’s a few examples to whet your appetite. We would be pleased to meet you to discuss other options further.

Mentoring and Befriending clients - A rewarding role which could be for one or two hours a week, helping on one of our courses eg. an ESOL course or with our back to work programme for ex-offenders, Workout, or with PEEP our work with young people not in education, employment or training.

One to One Support - Giving just a few hours per week to help on our courses like ESOL provision, helping with application forms, reading or IT, makes such a difference to the people you’re helping

Serving customers or helping with furniture collections/deliveries at our Morph  shops

Reception and Administration Support - Helping in one of our departments or on reception and utilising your office or customer service skills.

One-off help at Events - Welcoming visitors and serving refreshments, preparing and posting mail-outs for event invites, newsletters or Annual Reviews

Promoting and Supporting the work of Pecan - Marketing Pecan in the local community and being part of our prayer base

So what do you do next?
If you are interested in any of these areas and you are in agreement with our Basis of Faith you can read more about volunteering at Pecan here and then you can print and complete the Expression of Interest Form and send it to:
